Stanley Tape

Brief

To make a replica, lightweight Stanley Tape Measure to hang above their trade show stand. Needs to be reusable, transportable and attention-grabbing.

Manufacture

The 1m high sculpture was sculpted from urethane foam then coated with fibreglass and painted. The measure was created from rolled galvanised steel.

Finished Results / Interesting Notes

The initial brief was for a trade show display. However the client wanted to modify the brief to incorporate the option for moulding the tape after the initial trade show had finished. This would allow for cheap replicas to be made from the original model. The finished tape was fabricated with this in mind and had no undercuts, which would prevent it being moulded.
