Insulin Pen

Brief

Manufacture a one metre high replica insulin pen, to be used at a trade show.

The pen was carved in polyurethane foam and covered in fibreglass. A resin and talc thixotropic mix was painted over the surface which when sanded, took out all the imperfections created by the fibreglass process. A succession of filler primers was sprayed and sanded on the model until it was ready for painting. Graphics were reproduced using vinyl.

Finished Results / Interesting Notes

This particular model was created for the launch of a new insulin-dispensing pen which controlled the amount of insulin given by means of a dial.
